Think Your Pregnant After One Or More Miscarriages? Get An Ultrasound And Find Out More

Jaime Allen

If you have just discovered that you may possibly be pregnant and have suffered a miscarriage in the past, talk with your health professional about getting an ultrasound as quickly as possible. There are a lot of things that can be seen with an ultrasound, and this may be a way to get some peace of mind about the pregnancy and about the baby that you are carrying. Here are some things to do right away.

 Call Your Insurance Provider

First, call your insurance provider to see how many ultrasounds are covered under your healthcare plan, and to see if you qualify for getting an ultrasound this early in the pregnancy. Some providers will allow more than one for a regular pregnancy, but because of the miscarriages you could be high risk.

The high risk label may qualify you for more ultrasounds, allowing you to get the ultrasound without stress about cost. If you know your potential due date, use this to determine if you are to the point where an ultrasound if recommended.

Talk with Your Healthcare Expert

You next want to talk with your healthcare office or make an appointment. Tell them that you think you are pregnant and how far along you think you are. Don't forget to mention that you have had previous miscarriages if you haven't informed them of this already. Your healthcare expert may want you to schedule the ultrasound right away, or have you do a pregnancy test first in office.

Drink Water and Prep

Make sure that you drink at least 24 ounces of water at least an hour before the ultrasound so that your bladder is full. This makes it easier for them to see what is going on inside. Talk with the ultrasound facility in advance if you have any other questions on how you think that you should prep.

There are a lot of emotions and fears that may be going through your head if you have already had one or more miscarriages, and when you are ready to find out if your pregnant and the condition of the fetus. Call your healthcare provider as soon as your pregnancy test comes back positive so you can be seen and to get a physical examination and to request an ultrasound so they can get a better look at what is going on. Contact a medical service, like EVDI Medical Imaging, for more help.
