Contacts can greatly improve your quality of life. You can play sports easier, wear sunglasses, and do a myriad of things without glasses. If you choose to get contacts it is very important that you know how to properly care for them so that you can avoid major problems. Here are some things that you need to know about taking care of your contacts.

1. Take Out Your Contacts Nightly

One of the most important things that you should do for your contacts is remove them nightly. Keeping them in your eyes is very dangerous for a couple of reasons. First, having the contacts in your eyes while you sleep will dry out your eyes. Tears are important part of eye health. The moisture will help to flush out any dirt or bacteria that is in the eye. Dry eyes can cause eye problems, not to mention it can be painful.

Second, when your contact is in the eye it holds the bacteria right on the pupil. When you wear the contacts for only a couple hours a day it isn't a big deal to have the contact holding the bacteria there. But if you don't take out the contact the bacteria will continue to grow and can cause an eye infection. By removing your contact it gives your eyes time to flush out the bacteria that is in your eye from the day and can replenish important fluids to keep your eyes clean.

2. Rinse Off Your Contacts Before You Store Them

Another important part of contact care is actually washing and rinsing them, not just storing them. Many people make the mistake of removing their contacts and placing them directly in the solution to be stored for the night. There are proteins and bacteria on the contact, so when you place them in the storage container without rinsing them, you essentially just let your contacts soak in germs for the night.

Instead, take the contact between two fingers and spray solution on both sides. Then gently rub the solution with your fingers to help dislodge any bacteria or dirt that might have gotten stuck on the contact. After you have done this then you can place them in the storage solution for the night with the confidence that they are clean.

If you follow these simple tips you can keep your eyes healthy and know that your contacts won't harm your eyes. For more information, visit websites like http://www.aspeneyewear.com.
